YuleTree

2009.11.25

It is exactly one month before Christmas. Traditionally, the 'yule log' was made of the Ash tree, as a light giver in the darkest of winter, because of its bright burning quality.

The Ash tree in Nordic/Celtic/Druidic mythology, symbolizes the 'world' tree, where heaven and earth are joined. The sun in the apex here, is for me, representational of the divine cosmic order, to which the young Ash in this sacred place reflects renewal/rebirth.

In this setting, surround by Beech trees, we see the harmony of the 'mother/father', for the Ash is the father of all trees, and the Beech is the mother of all knowledge. The father supports the sun in heaven and the mother creates a golden cradle in her sacrificial leaves.

When we allow nature to teach us... we can not but help in creating and maintaining the sacredness of the world around us.... and as we enter into the darkness of winter, may this photo bring you peace and joy for the love and light that is to come...

"May your Christmas be full of love and light"
