Journey to Pender Island

A very excited Fiona.

Passing by Mayne Isand. We visited this lighthouse in January.

Pitching the tent in the dark.

Fun with long exposures and flashlights.

It had been nearly 4 months since we ticked off our last gulf island, so it was high time we made progress on our plan to visit them all. Pender island was the destination this time, and I took my public holiday a week early so that I could have a three-day weekend in relative peace. Unfortunately, I had a busy day at work, and hadn't been able to phone up the campsite to check that we could pitch a tent. Turns out that the campsite was no longer a campsite. So, we peddaled in the dark across the island to Prior Centennial Campground. We found out the following day that the campsite wasn't technically open for business either (apparently mid may is still early for camping in Canada). The very friendly attendant was happy for us to stay though, and we had the place completely to ourselves for three nights.
